Ultralight & Ultracompact

In 2019, Airboard surprised the SUP community at the Paddel-Expo with a new innovation: the Ultralight Edition. The weight and pack size have been reduced by 50% thanks to the latest materials and a sophisticated folding system. The concept also includes the PumpBag , which serves as a SUP bag, DryBag and volume pump, as well as the PumpPaddle, which can also be used as a high-pressure pump.

Nach einer 10-jährigen Entwicklungsphase entsteht 2001 unter dem Markennamen Airboard ein neuer Wintersport. Zahlreiche internationale Auszeichnungen verhelfen in den ersten Jahren zum Durchbruch und die Snow-Bodyboards werden weltweit vertrieben.

Ultralight Edition

Im Jahr 2019 überraschte Airboard an der Paddel-Expo die SUP-Community mit einer neuen Innovation: Die Ultralight Edition. Das Gewicht und das Packmass wurde dank neuster Materialien und einem ausgeklügelten Faltsystem um 50% reduziert. Zum Konzept gehört auch der PumpBag, welcher als SUP-Tasche, DryBag und als Volumen-Pumpe dient, sowie das PumpPaddle welches gleichzeitig als Hochdruck-Pumpe einzusetzen ist.

Rocket Nose

2016 verblüffte Airboard die SUP-Szene mit einem völlig neuen Shape. Die Delfin-ähnliche Nase des Airboard® ROCKET simuliert einen Verdrängerrumpf, bei dem an der Spitze des SUPs möglichst wenig Wasser für Widerstand sorgt. Das Wasser wird durch diese Form keilförmig zur Seite verdrängt. Für einige Paddler nach wie vor gewöhnungsbedürftig, hat sich diese spezielle Nasenform bewährt und im Airboard-Sortiment etabliert. Die "Rocket-Nose" ist mittlerweile bei verschiedenen Renn- Touring und Expeditions-SUP zu finden.

SUP-Segel

Leicht und kompakt. - Ein SUP-Segel das jederzeit mitgeführt werden kann und bei bedarf innert Sekunden einsatzbereit ist. Technisch ist das SUP-Segel auf ein Minimum reduziert, hat aber dennoch eine äusserst grosse Segelfläche, und das SUP lässt sich durch Neigen und drehen des Segels steuern. Das Segel kann in der Hand geführt werden oder wird durch das Paddel geschlauft.

Paddle Guide App

Die wachsende Zahl an Stand Up Paddlern wird insbesondere von Naturverbänden kritisch beobachtet. - Da und dort wurden bereits Verbote zum Schutz der Tierwelt ausgesprochen. Dies bewegte die fun-care AG eine neue Web-App zu lancieren welche den Stand Up Paddlern aber auch anderen Wassersportlern wichtige Informationen wie geeignete Einwasserungsstellen, Schutzgebiete oder gesperrte Zonen zeigt. Zudem bietet die App auch eine Auswahl von Restaurants und Hotels welche einfach über das Wasser erreichbar sind. Des weiteren sind touristische Informationen wie Sehenswürdigkeiten, Live-Cams und Wetterberichte integriert. Zur Web-App: www.paddle-spots.com Airboard hat dieser Innovation gleich eine ganze SUP-Reihe gewidmet. Die SKYLINE SUP gibt es vier verschiedenen See-Designs. Durch Scannen des QR-Codes auf dem SUP gelangt man direkt zum entsprechenden See auf der App.

Swiss quality standards

Depending on the model, 8 to 12 hours of handcraft are included in our SUP
Airboard SUP are produced in nine to ten working steps. They are manufactured according to exact specifications and each step is subject to defined test criteria. In the video below you can see the production of an Airboard SUP, shortened to one minute.

Sustainability and ecology
When selecting components and accessories, we consciously pay attention to sustainability. A defective pump, a defective paddle or valve does not necessarily have to be disposed of. We have all spare parts and the know-how to repair a defect. This relieves the environment and also your budget.

Improvement of Social Performance
Our factory has an Amfori-BSCI audit which is renewed regularly. This represents an improvement of social performance in global supply chains. For further information please visit: https://www.amfori.org/content/amfori-bsci.
In addition, we personally visit each production line up to 4 times a year, not only for one or two days, but usually for 1-2 weeks. With the operators and workers of the factory we have built up a good friendly relationship over many years.  We personally see a positive development of the working conditions and living standards of all employees.

Since 2020 season all SUP will be delivered with bags made from recycled beverage bottles. In addition, we no longer use plastic film for packaging the SUP, but only recycled paper.
 
From 2021 we pack all paddles supplied in the set in recycled paper. In addition, the pump is packed in a reusable 40l DryBag instead of a plastic bag.

Collaboration with SUP Clinic
A defective SUP does not have to be replaced immediately. Mostly these can be repaired. SUP-Clinic is our partner when it comes to expertly repairing a leak, a broken seam or a faulty valve. If a repair is no longer worthwhile, the SUP Clinic will take care of proper disposal.

DER RICHTIGE DROP-STITCH
Single Layer Woven: Dieser High-Tech Drop-Stitch kommt bei unserer UltraLight Edition zum Einsatz. Eng verwobene Fäden geben dem Material eine äusserst hohe Steifigkeit was unsere ultraleichten SUP STRIDER und HIKE auszeichnet.

Prelaminated/Fusion Double Layer: Beim Prelaminated Double Layer wird während der Produktion des Grundmaterials direkt eine zweite PVC-Schicht aufgeschweisst. Dieses moderne Verfahren macht das SUP nicht nur robuster, sondern es können auch bis zu 25% Gewicht gegenüber einem herkömmlichen Double Layer SUP eingespart werden.

Glued Heavy-Duty Drop-Stitch: Früher der Standard eines hochwertigen SUP, findet diese Verarbeitungsart nach wie vor ihren Einsatz. Gerade bei Wildwasser-SUP denen so einiges abverlangt wird weist diese Bauweise nur Vorteile auf.

DOPPELT VERSTÄRKTE SEITENWÄNDE
All unsere SUP werden mit einer doppelt verstärkten Seitenwand (Rail) produziert. Dies macht das SUP weniger anfällig wenn man mal gegen einen Stein fährt.
Einzige Ausnahme: unsere Ultralight-SUP. Hier verwenden wir ein einwandiges, gewebeverstärktes PVC-Rail und verstärken nur die Naht doppelt. Der Vorteil: Das SUP lässt sich äusserst kompakt rollen und es wird einiges an Gewicht eingespart. - Bei sorgfältigem Umgang mit einem Single-Layer-Rail SUP hält dies gleich lang wie ein doppelwandinges SUP.
